Layers of Inspiration
No.07 - Wrapping up the year by creating moodboards, a love language of mine. From me to you: sparks of inspiration for this season and the upcoming year of 2025.
I hope you are in the slowing down part of this magical month of December. That you can give yourself the essential luxury of taking deep breaths and notice all the beauty around you. To take a walk in nature. To read. To drink that favourite tea and wrap gifts like a little ceremony, a ritual, to make it special. I love old cosy Christmas music to create, set the ambiance, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra… To feel gratitude. Presence. I’ve been in that feeling the last weeks and when I tune into that frequency I can feel my heart expand. It’s a time to pause and reflect on the year that has been in the midst of the buzz the last days before Christmas. I feel that December is for gratitude for everyone and everything we have in our lives… To be connected to our heart, the portal for magic. The way to access our inner alchemist…
And, on that note, I would love to say thank you for being on this journey with me. I’m so grateful for each of every one of you subscribing up to my letter this year. It started with a spark of inspiration and here we are, the 7th letter. To express myself and the whole palette of me is my guiding star writing and sharing these letters. As Athena Calderone/EyeSwoon so beautiful said in her podcast that I listened to many years ago: “You can be more than one thing”.
An intention of mine is that next year shall reflect that even more for me in my work life… This year has been such a transformative year on so many levels, can you feel it? Yesterday we had the winter solstice and we’re in a time now that invites us to go deep within, be still and present to collect the treasures within from the soul’s journey this year. See and learn from nature. Stillness is a golden key to receive intuitive messages. It’s also a time to celebrate ourselves, to look how far we’ve come this year. We made it! Next year will be year 9 in numerology witch holds a more feminine energy than this year and astrological, a lot will shift. It’s going to be like we’re in a new scene of life. More on that to come… I’m writing on the 8th letter about the new year and the reflections from 2024 going into 2025.
A life elixir for me is definitely to be inspired (inspiration: in spirit) and to weave inspiration, a vision, a feeling together. To set inspiration in motion, follow it and let it take me on a wonderful journey. To nurture inspiration in different ways. It’s like weaving golden threads… It’s been little quiet from me lately. I’ve listened to my intuition and I went into hibernation mode the last couple of weeks and it’s been such a beautiful journey to reconnect with my inspiration again. A lot of focus on clearing and cleansing, home magic, resting, tying up loose ends, organizing my wardrobe. I’ve been selling clothes and accessories to create space for some new well chosen items and I’ve been going to my tailor with some pieces and wow, the feeling to have some pieces being taken care of and adjusted for me and my body. One pair of 90s white fine wool trousers with golden buttons from Escada is now like made for me, he worked his magic and changed them four sizes down. I bought them vintage; they were just too beautiful not to buy. He said the material is exquisite, and I agree. They’re like a pair of trousers I could see Lady Diana wearing.
I’ve actually been inspired by my own wardrobe and seeing it with new eyes by taking everything out and re organized it and connecting with what I love to wear. My signature style, the pieces I love to wear, also trying on new combinations. Imagine all the different combinations your wardrobe can create if you just spend time with it and setting an intention. To really take your time and reflect on your authentic style is creating ripple effects in life. This is also a topic I will write more about and in 2025 I’ve been asked to open up for personal styling readings/sessions… So, let’s see! I’m open to what’s meant to be.
I’ve enjoyed creating these moodboards for me and you. I hope you’re going to be inspired in different ways and maybe these images can spark something within you… All inspirational images in this letter is sourced from Pinterest or linked.
Please note: This letter is long and filled with inspiration for you so make sure to open it in your web browser to enjoy and experience it fully...
Beauty and timeless inspiration. The feeling and personal reflections.
Let’s dive in… Enjoy!
FOREVER STYLE ICON CAROLYN & THE WHITE SHIRT
Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy in a white shirt and a black skirt. She had a golden bag to this outfit for that personal, chic detail. A classic timeless look. White tuxedo shirt from Filippa K. I really liked the combination of a black long coat, brown chocolate corduroy and black, patent leather. So, it’s time to use my old Filippa K patent ankle boots again with my brown corduory pants. A chain belt from Chloé/Savannahs. Lovely to wear it with a pair of tailored trousers and an all black look. Necklace from Toteme. Black bows, black coats, this image from an old Calvin Klein ad is always circulating in my inspiration folders. Monica Bellucci, radiating feminine, magentic energy and that mystique…
BALLET FLATS, BUTTER ANGELS & DIAMONDS
How adorable? A little butter angel on bread. Earrings from Blue Billie. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. A book I will re-read this holiday, every time I read it I get some new inspiration and insights. I have a thing for spirals when channeling my art so I feel drawn to also wear jewellery with spirals... Diamond ring from Sophie Bille Brahe. I love black scrunchies and I have them in velvet, silk and in different structures. It’s such an easy way to lift any look and it’s a signature for me. Earlier this year when I saw these in stories on Instagram I definitely took a screenshot. Velvet flats with embroidery from By Malene Birger. A draped kaftan with fringes in such a beautiful color from Taller Marmo/Mytheresa. And, I love the new minimalist ballet flats in in espresso brown satin and black velvet from Toteme. The picture has an essence of something I want to bring into next year…
CHOCOLATE, SILK & BLACK VELVET
Smooth chocolate ice cream and a beautiful spoon caught my eye. I have these velvet trousers from Arket and I can highly, highly recommend to try them if you’re into velvet and they can easily be dressed up or down. I love to wear them high waist with a brown croco belt for that 90s feeling and I’m looking forward to dress up them with white silk and accessories. Silk blouse from Arket. Earrings from Toteme. Sling backs from Sania D’mina. Cream satin clutch from Stylein.
SWANS & NEW BEGINNINGS
Classical music. Sheer radiance. Feminine energy. Ballet. Dancing. Black flats from Manolo Blahnik. Silk hair tie from Sophie Buhai/Net-a-porter. Sunglasses from Yves Saint Laurent. Reflect highlighter stick in Pearl from Victoria Beckham Beauty/Cow parfymeri. I also have this thing for classic soaps… The picture of the decorated soap in a sea shell, a symbol for the new year ahead…
THE CREATIVE ACT
Creating space for creativity, inspiration and flow. Opening up the portal for new possibilities. Using my hands, my creativity, spending time with my craft, my art and writing. Meeting new people. Next year will be a lot about using our unique gifts, being of service. Cardigan from By Malene Birger. Earrings from Sophie Buhai/Net-a-porter. Skirt from Arket. Agenda from Louis Vuitton. Ballet flats in leopard from Arket. Hand cream from Victoria Beckham. Dreamy watch from Cartier. Phone case from By Malene Birger. I will create space for writing, journaling, reading… Getting ideas, feelings and thoughts out on paper. 2025 is the year I’m starting with my morning pages again. The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron will be with me next year on my creative journey and also The Creative Act by Rick Rubin, both of them is among my books at home and I can recommend them to all wanting to cultivate a deeper relationship with intuition and creative. Being a vessle for the creative energy that’s just waiting to be expressed.
THOSE PRECIOUS MOMENTS
Charlotte York getting ready… I love the feeling to get ready and spend that time with myself before something special. Before a date, a dinner, a concert or meeting friends. I always dress just before and it’s a very intuitive process. Rouge Allure 209 lipstick in a hazelnut hue from Chanel. The body lotion from Nécessarie. Earrings from Celine. Velvet bow from Prada. I found one last year from H&M, that I will use this season. On my wish list for Christmas: A white robe with my monogram. Dreamy diamonds from Sophie Bille Brahe. This classic tennis necklace is also a dream…
FEMININE RADIANCE
Everything is in the details. Simplicity, feminine ease and grace. Black is so elegant and chic. What a dream to decorate with white meringue swans… Imagine them dancing elegantly on a wedding cake… The swan is such an inspiration for me and I feel it will be a spirit animal for me next year. It came to me in a meditation during solstice and I feel it’s a sign… I will dive deeper into the meaning of both the white and the black swan, and also, I will read about Hilma af Klint and her channeling of the paintings of the black and white swans. The masculine, the feminine energies, the symbolic, spiritual meaning… And, who knows maybe my pilates will be switched up with some Ballet Beautiful ballet inspired workout sessions on You Tube and a lot of swan arms next year…
DELICATE, TIMELESS DETAILS
Elegant minimalsim. Black & white. Personal, delicate details. Wallet from Toteme. Tassle belt from Le Sundial. The book Once upon a time by Elizabeth Beller. Lit up highlighter stick in Nectar from Westman Atelier/Cow parfymeri. White flowers are always my favourites…
SEE AND LEARN FROM LEE…
And also: Expect and be open to miracles. I feel like wearing all black on New Year’s Eve. This image of Lee Radziwill has everything! I want to manifest finding something like that vintage one day… I love to look at her amazing style archive and my pinterest is filled with images of her timeless style, the beauty and uniqueness. What a treasure, just as all the images of Carolyn… I have everything I need in my wardrobe to create the feeling I want. But these pieces are oh so lovely… Opera coat from By Malene Birger. Dress from Khaite. Lip gloss from Hourglass. Earrings from Anine Bing. Sling back from Manolo Blahnik.
FAMILY TIME & GROUNDING
On my to do this holiday: A lot of cuddles in bed with my family and early to sleep. Quality time with my love Erik and deep connection, conversations about life and our trip to the sun in the beginning of the new year... Signature sherling jacket from Toteme. Lip gloss in Espresso from Rhode. Brown curling boots from Bally. Vintage bucket bag from Louis Vuitton.
THE BODY & THE SENSES
I feel so called to create space and add in a lot of sauna into my life next year. Now and before the new moon in Capricorn and New year: Rest & recharge. Read. Drinking tea and herbal infusions. Slow down. Presence. Leveling up the self care. Preparing for the new by listening inward. Contemplation. Meditation. Connecting with the breath and body. Self compassion. Slowing down. Bath for the senses from Susanne Kaufmann. Myrrhe Mystère from Tom Ford. Pomander from Diptyque. This is a reminder to invest in new, fresh white towels for the new year as well. Inviting new fresh energy…
I’m wishing you a beautiful and loving Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Remember, the gold in the present moment…
With love, Josephine
